Project Description:
Industrial Boiler Services (UK) Ltd recently welcomed a new client, GCF Hillier & Sons of Thetford, Norfolk, following a reactive call-out to a fault on their 700kW Comtherm LPG-fired grain dryer burner.
During the busy harvesting period, the reliable operation of grain drying equipment is critical, making a fast and effective response essential. Following the initial enquiry, one of our Senior Technical Engineers was immediately dispatched to the site to investigate the reported running fault.
Using a methodical diagnostic approach, our engineer quickly identified two separate issues affecting the burner’s operation: a defective Fireye burner control unit and a back-feeding overload relay within the control system.
Following completion of the fault diagnosis, a detailed remedial quotation was prepared and promptly accepted by the client. To ensure the repair was completed efficiently and to the highest standard, we mobilised a team comprising of both Combustion and Electrical Engineers.
The defective components were replaced, the control system tested, and the burner recommissioned, returning the 700kW grain dryer to full operational service with minimal downtime.
This project demonstrates our ability to diagnose and rectify complex combustion and control faults quickly, combining specialist electrical and combustion expertise to minimise disruption to our clients’ operations.
