Gymnasium Plantroom Refurbishment

Industrial Boiler Services (UK) Ltd were extremely pleased to be appointed Principal Contractor, for the Gymnasium plantroom refurbishment works at HMP Hollesley Bay.

The existing cast-iron section boilers had failed, whilst the rest of the plantroom’s components of 30-plus years old had seen better days.

After a competitive tender process, IBS were awarded the works, and a 4-week schedule commenced with the entire strip-out of the plantroom, including boilers, flue systems, pumps, hot water calorifiers and the feed and expansion system.

Unical condensing oil fired boilers were installed, along with a bespoke UK exchangers gasketed plate heat exchanger to separate the new boilers and the existing system.

Both sides of the heating hydronics were pressurised utilising Mikrofill pressurisation units, and side stream filtration systems on both the primary and secondary heating circuits were supplied by Vexo.

The hot water system was redesigned, and pressurised, with the generation served by a Cetetherm semi-instantaneous plate heat exchanger arrangement, with a BOSS multienergy buffer vessel for storage. Topped off by a Flamefast safety interlock panel to manage the new fire, and gas sensors, this plantroom was ready to go on budget, and before schedule.
