Project: Heating System Redesign
Client: Gonville and Caius College
Location: Cambridgeshire
Date: Summer 2024
Project Description:
One of our long-standing clients, the prestigious Gonville and Caius College in Cambridge, required a full re-design of the heating systems covering two houses, within their accommodation portfolio.
The scope of work included combining both systems mechanically and electrically, relocating the plant room from internal to external, and upgrading all affected equipment to the highest possible efficiency.
Design works reviewed the current load and operating profile of both systems, as well as the condition of the equipment to remain. The mechanical work included the installation of a new commercial hydrogen-enabled gas boiler from our preferred supplier AIC, allowing our client to benefit from the 10-year warranty on the fully stainless-steel heat exchanger, a plate heat exchanger to physically separate the older, remaining system and the new componentry, new primary and secondary pump sets, pressurisation units, expansion vessels and dosing pots, all being sited in a reclaimed outbuilding.
Commissioning by our manufacturer-accredited combustion team ensured the installation was operating optimally, and a handover with the client covered the new working principles and control methods now in use.
We are passionate about our client’s projects and are equipped to handle a wide range of scenarios. To find out more please click here.
